How To Turn 1st Dates Into 2nd Dates By Upgrading Your Sense Of Style

So you finally convinced her to go out with you. Great!

But you've been here before, so you're really not that surprised.

After all, if you're reading this you must be an awesome guy already.

Once again the night's going well but you're not entirely sure what the future holds.

It ends with a kiss and the usual exchange of, "I had a great time with you tonight, let's do this again soon."

The next day you get nothing....It's literally crickets, like a bad stand-up comedian who couldn't buy a laugh.

Not only is it confusing, but it's also frustrating.

You both agreed that it was a fun evening.

You were a gentleman: paid for the bill, treated her nicely, and even put some thought into the date.

"What did I do wrong?!" You might be thinking.

Well if everything I just listed sounds familiar, it could have something to do with the overall impression you were making with her without even realizing it.

The only reason that I bring up this today is because recently I've opened myself back up to dating.

For nearly a year I basically closed myself off to the possibility of meeting someone awesome because I was so "committed" to building up Street Gentlemen.

It was a cop out.

Honestly, I buried myself in my work to avoid being rejected.

I bought into the idea of keeping a "perfect record."

If I never put myself out there, there's a 100% of not being rejected.

That means I'm undefeated!

But taking this approach robbed me of a lot of joy.  So many opportunities passed me by.

Even though I'm a Flames fan, Wayne Gretzky said it best, "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take."

The main reason for not putting myself out there in the past was to protect my ego.

So if you can relate, keep reading.

Let's talk about what I've learned about turning 1st dates into 2nd dates over the last few months.

Choosing the right venue and dressing accordingly:

This one's huge!

The proper venue sets the tone for how the date will go.

This also means that you need to dress accordingly.

A cool, offbeat cocktail bar will require you to step up and tap into your inner-gentleman.

Ditch the t-shirts and wear a casual button-up shirt instead. You can also rely on a sport-coat and jeans look too.

When it comes to more casual settings like when you're out bowling or playing mini-golf, you can get away with wearing something more laid-back.

A well-fitted polo shirt with dark denim and a clean, sophisticated pair of boots or simple sneakers will do the trick.

No matter what the atmosphere you never want to look like you're trying too hard.

You also don't want to create the impression that you don't care either by under-dressing.

Dressing like you give a damn:

If dating's important to you, then this is worth paying attention to.

This means taking the time to plan your outfit ahead of time.

Of course this requires taking the first tip into consideration.

It also means paying close attention to the details.

Details like making sure your shirt's not wrinkled or stained, taking the time for proper grooming, and polishing your shoes.

Whether we notice or not, women pay close attention to the way a man takes care of and presents himself.

The smallest details reveal a lot about your character.

This means that poor grooming can be interpreted as "This guy doesn't have his act together. If he can't take care of himself, how will he be in a relationship?"

Overlooking the power of proper fit:

I can't stress this one enough

No matter how much you spend on clothing, it will never look great unless it fits your specific body type properly.

That's why it's one of the first things I teach my students during 1-0n-1 image consulting sessions.

You're better off spending less (while maintaining the quality) on your wardrobe in order to find something that suits you.

The money you save on the upfront purchase of clothing can be invested in alterations afterwards.

It's worth taking the time to find the right items rather than rushing to grab something because you feel like you need it.

Also avoid buying something just because it's a good deal too. This is a common mistake that guys make which costs them nearly $1,000 a year on clothes that are never worn.

When you know what you're looking for, it's the easiest way to look like the best-dressed version of yourself without breaking the bank.

Last Thoughts:

After reading this you should be well-equipped to turn your next 1st date into a 2nd one.

The most important thing to keep in mind is what kind of impression you'd like to make and dressing accordingly.

I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it.
